Martin was the former MEC of Finance in the North West Provincial Government from 1994 until 2004. All the above achievements were underpinned by one defining moment i.e when he committed his life to God on 9 October 1982. His journey of faith took him through hard, challenging, enduring, yet life changing experiences. Having indeed been highly favoured by God, prepared him for the next phase of his life whereby he can now authoritatively impart these life experiences into the lives of others. His mission in life is to be a thought leader – developing Christian leaders in the market place for Kingdom impact. He currently fellowships at Rhema Church in Randburg where he serves on the Financial Advisory Board.

As a gifted communicator, he has addressed audiences locally and abroad in conferences and high impact meetings in both a Christian and secular environment. With relative ease and a generous dose of humour, he has the ability to communicate on a diverse range, of sometimes very difficult topics in a precise, practical, compelling and persuasive, yet graceful manner. He has this rare ability to captivate his audience with his honesty and humility borne out of a challenging life journey. Given his rich experience, maturity and strategic insights, he has become a trusted coach and mentor to quite a few influential leaders in the church and corporate environment, especially those from a previously disadvantaged background.

He stays in scenic Hartbeespoort with his wife Elizabeth (still a nurse) to whom he has been married to for the last 34 years. They have been blessed with three children; Esther who is married to a wonderful man Steven and stays in Melbourne- Australia, who also blessed them with their first grandchild Naomi about a year ago; Ezra who is in the music industry and Zoe who has entered the media sector.

Martin’s family life entertains one of his highest priorities because he firmly believes that the family is the main arena where socialization takes shape, value systems are embedded and the foundation is laid for appropriate engagement with the outside world.

With the spare time at his disposal, he occasionally plays a round of golf, likes travelling and addictively immerses himself in good books around leadership, autobiographies and Christian living.

‘’Like an open book, You watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before You, the days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.’’
